What this detox plan involves…

I am well into the rhythm of the 30 days to healthy living plan now, so saying ‘no’ to treats has become a lot easier. I did have a crazy coffee craving today and if I think about it too much it, that craving gets strong! but I am hanging in there and seeing this through. I am on day 8 now, 22 more days to go.

This detox is no sugar, no coffee, no alcohol, no soy, no dairy, no gluten/wheat. The idea being that you free your body of the common allergens that can cause inflammation in your gut and the rest of your body. You get to re-set your digestive system, get your liver and kidneys back to optimum functioning, cleanse your colon of all the build up of sticky plaques that cause a build up of toxins.

I am enjoying the vanilla and chocolate protein shakes with the greens balance and fibre powder. The digestion supplement is also great. The plan also includes energy fizz sticks, detox herbal teas, metabolism support and lemon cleanse powder.

I am doing it vegan. I have thought about going vegan for a while for many reasons – health, environment, animal cruelty. There are so many fab recipes and many restaurants offer vegan options now. It has really come along way. I watched the documentary ‘game changers’ and it really opened my eyes. Many athletes now getting their protein from plant based diets.

Thank you again to all my friends and family who are cheering me on, it makes such a difference to have the encouragement and support.

I am not just doing this to loose weight, but to also improve my mental health – I am already reaping the benefits of a clearer mind. The fog has lifted and I have clarity again. I have oomph and go, zest for life again. This renewed energy that it has given me has been such a boost for my mood and emotional stability.

If any one is struggling with their mood it is really worth looking at your diet as the brain and the gut are so closely connected and linked.

  1. Hi Tracey. I’m so pleased that you’re doing so well. I was interested in your description of the eating plan that you’re doing. I did a month on the Whole30 plan last June which is very similar. Having been on a gluten free diet for the best part of 10 years, I was able to use it as an elimination diet and concluded that it wasn’t wheat that I was sensitive to after all. I am now stuck with a diagnosis of IBS but at least I can eat normally now.
    Following the eating plan was hard going at times as it was so harsh, but I stuck it out and felt the benefits.
    I used to have a problem with chocolate …. once I started eating it, I couldn’t stop! I decided the best solution was to cut it out altogether ( much like an alcoholic). It is coming up to 13 years since I had it and now don’t miss it at all. It can be done! Keep your chin up and you’ll get there.
